The story follows a young duckling who grows bigger each day but still doesn’t know how to fly. She lives on a quiet farm with an old man and an old lady who care for her very much. The duckling loves to splash, waddle, and eat her food, but she keeps jumping into the pond with a big belly flop instead of flying. And the old lady decides to help her. Each day, she moves the duckling’s food pan a little higher up the hill so the duckling has to walk farther.
